Maharashtra, Rajasthan and West Bengal.

Community Education support program in Maharashtra was started by SAMPARC by gaining experience through participation in girl children’s Nanhi Kali program run by K. C. Mahindra Education Trust. The objective of the program is to support girl children of week families so that they obtain education up to 10thstd in the rural and slum area. The other strong part of it was interaction at the family level creating impact on food nutrition aspect including lifestyle, manner, sanitation, hygiene.

Under this program poor rural girl children from 6-18 years age group in Maval and Mulshi Taluka District Pune are benefitting in the remote rural area. The program is drawn under 35Ac for 100% Donor’s Tax benefit.

The project was initiated under Nanhikali education support program in the year 2002 to support 200 poor needy community girl children by SAMPARC. The success of Nanhi Kali has created tremendous impact.

The girl’s education program has generated confidence amongst the community people and children from 40 villages. The girls receive sponsorship assistance for education and are provided regular follow up and counseling. As a result, today significant psychological changes have developed in the remote area towards education. The migration of the older children to cities for education or livelihood purposes has greatly reduced.

SAMPARC always faced big challenge in the rural part to bring children to the school. Thus SAMPARC developed counselling wing by keeping qualified persons from Psychology and social work to handle the issues. The main work that SAMPARC did is confidence building at the community level.

The approach followed in other parts of India in Rajasthan, West Bengal to strengthen community education support program where mostly 9000 children are getting benefit through the program. In Rajasthan the villages and slum area which were covered where children belonged to socially underprivileged community. Similarly in West Bengal all centres were selected where socially and economically poor children are getting benefit of the program. In some places for education of children SAMPARC even supported the family through livelihood project so that family could sustain and support children to continue education.

Community Education support in Rajasthan– the project was started for children of stone quarry workers in village Gangani, in Jodhpur. 60 Poor and needy children are supported.
