Education in rural India is a matter of great concern even today. Although Government strives to impart compulsory education to all children below 12 years, thousands of such children are still deprived of even elementary education. Till today, due to the lack of awareness for education in the remote villages, parents do not allow the children to attend School. Poor transportation and lack of basic amenities deprived the needy, poor and village tribal children from education. To fill this gap and to improve the literacy rate, SAMPARC started a School & Hostel in the remote terrain village of Bhambarde in Pune District, at a distance of 70 km from Pune & 130 km from Mumbai. SAMPARC Grameen Vidya Vikas Kendra, Bhambarde for the underprivileged children of 17 surrounding remote tribal and hilly villages was started by SAMPARC in the year 1998.
In 1984 Shri. Amit Banerjee came across of Bhambarde area while visiting different villages with his friend. He came across the entire 200 sq.mt area of Mulshi Taluka which was lacking education. Even to start pre-primary school was very difficult and challenging. He tried to establish 17 nursery schools. Since then he had a plan to start high school from 5th to 10th std.
300 students from 14 villages are getting education with support for sports, cultural activities and community empowerment program.
The school has changed the mind and outlook of the people of the area.
33 students of the villages passed SSC first time after the Independence of the country and every year more than 40 children pass SSC exam.
In 1998 it became possible for SAMPARC to procure land . Now the school is from 5th to 12thstd catering the needs of tribal, under privileged, poor, needy rural children of the remote area. SAMPARC is taking care by raising donation and sponsorship of education of the children by providing them school education, hostel accommodation, fooding and overall care. A team of social workers is constantly working in counseling the tribal katkari and families of backward community to send their children to Bhambarde school. To support the activities we adopted 180 tribal families and doing various livelihood projects and regular interaction with the 1100 families has created a great impact in the area. It is now important that well-wishers support education of these children otherwise the effort to convert the entire backward area into the grip of education and development will be stopped.
The feather in the school’s cap is the recognition of the State Government as the “Best School in Mulshi Taluka of the year 2005”.
And the most important achievement for any school would be 100% academic success which SAMPARC Bhambarde School is proving every year in its 10th standard Board Exam.
The hard work of teachers and staff of SAMPARC school is not only seen in the result of the students but the biggest achievement of SAMPARC is that now Parents are coming forward to extend their help to the school in every way so that their children get good results and they have realized the importance of education.
In the year 2013 SAMPARC received permission For XI & XII Std Classes. The school which is now from 5th standard to 12th standard is working towards the overall development of the tribal and village students of Mulshi Taluka.
The sole purpose behind this difficult task was to educate the poor tribal children in Mulshi Taluka. SAMPARC is proud that children attend school regularly. Counseling and creating awareness among the villagers, enabled SAMPARC to win their confidence and trust.
The school is from 5th to 12thstd and the school presently has 336 students- 195 boys and 141 girls-out of which 227 students (141 boys and 86 girls) live in the hostel.
This school is first of its kind in Mulshi Taluka. The school provides a good platform for various extracurricular and cultural activities.
The school bagged many District, State and National level awards & medals in Netball, Volleyball etc. Coaching in sports is provided to students in a 2-acre wide specially prepared sports ground.
The school has well-furnished classrooms, kitchen-cum-dining hall, toilets, laboratory, library and computer room, a huge playground for the students. The project has developed a water reservoir /check dam on 1.5 acres of land and 5 acres of land is brought under agriculture cultivation. There is a medical centre in the hostel campus, equipped with primary medical facilities. A residential doctor runs the medical centre, provides treatment to the patients, conducts health awareness program for 10 villages surrounding Bhambarde centre.
The School is working efficiently under the guidance of the Principal Mr. DattatrayChalak along with trained teachers, office staff, hostel in-charge, helpers, doctor & other staff.
The center is run by the school and hostel managing committee along with a local level managing committee who look after the centre.
