SAMPARC Child Counseling Centre helps to create confidence and safe platform for children to air their feelings and experiences with the counselor who is equipped with the knowledge and skills to help children cope with their situation. The center provides Counseling services to children of SAMPARC Children’s Home and SAMPARC Schools it provides psychological, psychometric tests, DASSI, DMIT, IQ, EQ, Personality Test, etc., help in finding learning difficulties of children help them in understanding their study skill, provides Career guidance for higher education as per Aptitude Test and interest of the child.

STORY OF CHANGE: Anil (name change)
Anil (name change), age 6 years; was brought to the centre by his Parents with complaints- hyperactivity, short tempered, violent behavior and lack of concentration. After primary discussion with his parents; they told about their child’s behavior, daily complaints from school, fighting with other children, creating disturbance in the class etc.
3 sessions for rapo establishment were held, after good rapo the child spoke about his parents, that when he was 2 years old, he was left to be brought by his grandmother in the village for 4 years as both the parents were working. The cause of the child being less attached to the parents was understood, he did not even wanted to stay with his parents. Also the child particularly was observed showing violence against his mother and other girls in the school. During play therapy the child expressed his emotion towards the female character. SAMPARC Counselor after understanding the problem that the Parents did not give proper time to the child conducted Counseling to the Parents. After counseling the parents and after parent child attachment was developed, the complaints of the child from the school reduced slowly. The child also showed positive changes when received affection and time from parents, also his concentration levels increased in the school.
Output
Since 2014 the project has registered 1839 cases, benefited more than 7000 beneficiaries through Career guidance, Community Awareness Program, Group guidance, individual Counseling, testing and conducted 133 sessions
IMPACT
More parents and teachers are coming forward at an early stage to solve various learning difficulties, behavioral problems of their children. Also parents and students are coming forward for career guidance as per the Aptitude, interest and IQ which is bringing an overall positive change in the mental health of the children.
ACHIEVEMENTS
• Worked with the Maharashtra Police Department in ‘Operation Muskan’ to identify the child issues through the Art therapy. • Sessions conducted for Juvenile Police regarding Child Psychology • Organized a state level Conference on ‘Learning Difficulties and the Role of Counseling. Over 100 psychologists, teachers and Doctor presented their research papers. • Published Book ‘Bal Samupdeshan Margdarshika’ it is based on Child Counselling Course. • Organized Career Guidance program for Students with State Bank of India-Banking exam, Tata Motors-Earn and Learn Program, Hotel Industries.
