SAMPARC Balgram, Jodhpur, located in the village of Gangani, approximately 35 kilometres from the city of Jodhpur, is a licensed Children’s Home under the Department of Women and Child Welfare, Government of Rajasthan. The centre was established to provide care, shelter, and a nurturing environment for orphaned and disadvantaged children in the region of Marwar.

The foundation of this Balgram was made possible through the generous donation of land by Shri Dolaram Sonar, a respected resident of Gangani village. The construction of the centre was completed with the personal support and vision of Late Shri Kalyanmal Kevalmal Singhvi, former President of SAMPARC, in whose memory the centre has been dedicated. Additional financial assistance was provided by Frères de nos Frères (FDNF), Switzerland. The architectural design of the Balgram reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Marwar region, offering children both a sense of identity and belonging.

The centre was officially inaugurated on 26th November 2011 and has since served as a safe and secure home for up to 100 children. Built with a focus on holistic child development, the centre offers not only residential care but also education, healthcare, and emotional support to children in need.

SAMPARC Balgram, Jodhpur, stands as a symbol of community collaboration, compassion, and sustainable child welfare. With a dedicated team led by Project Incharge Mr. Sowmitra Banerjee, the centre continues to empower children from vulnerable backgrounds to grow with dignity, confidence, and the opportunity for a brighter future.

STORY OF CHANGE: Shrawan

Shrawan is 13 years old. He lost his father when he was very small. His mother was working as a cook in a school for mid-day meal under a contractor. They don’t have their own house, so they live in their relative’s house; the economic condition is very poor.

Once he joined SAMPARC Balgram, Jodhpur, he received proper care, shelter, family environment, guidance and training in education. since he joined SAMPARC there is a lot of improvement in his studies. He received proper tutoring and guidance in the centre and he stood second in his class in his 8 th grade final exam and he got a Tablet PC as per the Rajasthan Government scheme , he stood first in class in 9 th class final exam and with special tuition classes for his 10 th Board exam he scored 64%. Now, after 12th std he is pursuing ITI Electrician 2nd Year.

The Children’s Home, Jodhpur is a home for the children of orphan, single parent, needy children of quarry workers, and children of drug & alcoholic addicted parents. Mr.Amit kumar Banerjee, Founder Director/Secretary-SAMPARC having strong social objective was keen to set up a home for the children of stone quarry workers, children of alcoholic and drug addicted fathers, and other destitute children and poor children from difficult situations in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He was very keen to bring these children in one place and to provide education and rehabilitation for children living in difficult situations. He organized a committee mostly taken from the family of Mr.Singhvi. The Gangani project was started under the leadership of Late Mr. Chandanmal Singhvi, Shri. Ghanshyamji Ojha and Mr.Sowmitro Banerjee. Mr. Sowmitro Banerjee has shown his leadership to complete the construction. Now the children’s strength is 46. The centre has 4 big halls, 3 open balconies, 1 study room , I office, 1 big dining room and kitchen, 1 utility room, adequate number of bathrooms and toilets. There is a big playground where children can play outdoor games like cricket, football, volleyball etc. The children in the centre receive tutoring after their regular school in all subjects and special focus is given to improve weak children. Children also attend Computer class and receive guidance for drawing and painting and for sports and physical fitness. The children participate in village level competitions and celebrate all cultural and National festivals with lot of enthusiasm. Overall health of the children is good, if any medical assistance is required the children are taken to Jodhpur. Project Incharge Mr.Sowmitro Banerjee along with house mother and support staff are looking after the centre under the guidance of Member of Local Level Managing Committee.
