SAMPARC Balgram, Shel–Pimpalgaon, is a licensed Children’s Home recognized under the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Maharashtra. Established in the year 2000, the project was initiated with the vision to provide a secure, nurturing, and family-like environment to orphaned and disadvantaged children within a community setting. The project reflects SAMPARC’s philosophy of holistic child development rooted in emotional care, education, and community participation.
Strategically located in the serene and green environs of Chakan, along the Chakan–Shikrapur Road, the centre lies approximately 35 kilometres from Pune and 140 kilometres from Mumbai. This natural and peaceful setting plays a vital role in supporting the psychological and emotional well-being of the children residing at the home.
The inception of the centre is marked by the compassionate efforts of SAMPARC Founder Mr. Amitkumar Banerjee and Co-Founder Mrs. Lata Pande, who constructed the centre on land generously provided by local farmers. The infrastructure was initially built to accommodate up to 60 children, with adequate provisions for housing, learning, and recreation, thereby laying the foundation for a stable and dignified life for orphaned children.
From its inception, SAMPARC Balgram, Shel–Pimpalgaon, has maintained its commitment to providing a family environment that fosters individual attention, moral values, educational progress, and emotional security. The centre continues to be a shining example of public-private-community partnership in child welfare and rehabilitation.
Amar lost his parents when he was just ten years. His uncle was unable to care for him and admitted him in SAMPARC Balgram. Amar has been brought up in SAMPARC Balgram since the age of 10. He completed his high school at SAMPARC and then took up a three year Hotel Management Course from Hotel Park Espique, Pune. At present he is appointed as a Chef in 5 star hotel at Pune and is earning good.

309 children are rehabilitated 91 children already became self-reliant and live with dignity.
The centre is having only boy inmates but very happy centre under the care and love of Mr. Amal Ganguly and Mrs. Sapna Ganguly. Children get truly mothers love. Children are very good in music, playing harmonium, tabla. In sports children participate in Taluka and District level competition. Old housemother Sunanda Aai really values the living of children by taking care in all aspects. Small library, computer training is provided in the centre. Regular medical checkup is done by the doctor and children do yoga every day. Also the children are supported daily by the tutor to support their class studies. Love and affection fulfill mostly the psychological need of the children. Local Level Management Committee is there to take care of the management, care and protection of the children. Some of the old children of the centre are Amit Burde who graduated in Hotel Management and is working in a Five Star Hotel as Chef & Trinay Jain is working in IBR as auditor.
